DESCRIPTION:
Experienced birders from Jackson Audubon Society along with museum educators will instruct campers on the fundamentals of bird watching. This week-long day camp teaches campers sound scientific principles of bird biology, migration, and the need for global conservation.  There will be indoor instruction on bird identification, habitats and wildlife conservation. Much of the instruction will take place outside on the trails of LeFleur’s Bluff State Park.
The members of Jackson Audubon Society (JAS) are devoted to imparting their love of birds to the young campers. To ensure their success, JAS will provide each camper with their own pair of performance grade binoculars. Campers will be instructed on how to use the binoculars and focus on birds in the field. In addition, JAS will provide each camper with their own copy of a comprehensive field guide of North American birds. The field guide is organized by categories commonly used by ornithologists around the world. Campers will be shown how to read and use this guide in the field.

REGISTRATION: Register at Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (601) 576-6000. Camp fees are required.
